I started this blog as a way to channel my emotions and passion for the game I love and for the club I adore.
I wanted to share my thoughts, my experiences, my joy and exhilaration, my anguish and heartbreak; and pretty much every aspect of the journey of supporting the best football club on this planet.
Stone Cold Arsenal (SCA) has grown in stature and readership beyond my wildest imagination. For that, I thank all the readers for giving us the fuel, energy and motivation to carry on providing the quality content that keeps you coming back to this site.
We strongly believe that our idea of the positive and balanced Arsenal experienced is shared by thousands, and we’d like you to join our team in sharing your views about Arsenal football club.
You don’t need to have a blog, a website, or be a recognized journalist or columnist. All you need is the fire and passion for Arsenal football club and the confidence to express it eloquently.
OK! So what to do to get writing.
Firstly, I think it’s important that we lay out some ground rules that will make life easier for the both of us. It helps manage expectations so that there’s no misunderstanding.
1. We’re anal about quality and consistency
To cut to the chase, there’s a hell of a lot of blogs and sites about Arsenal football club out there, let alone football (or soccer as known in North America).
We believe that SCA provides a unique and high quality perspective on all matters Arsenal and football topics of interest, and we’d like to keep it that way.
Quality and consistency is important to us and we will be anal to ensure that we don’t compromise this.
2. We don’t pay for the articles you will write
There’s a simple reason why. We can’t afford it.
We’d like to believe that like us, you are passionate about Arsenal football club and are happy to spend the time to share your thoughts and reflections with other like minded Arsenal followers. We do acknowledge that any time you spend writing is very valuable, and hazard a guess that if you’re thinking about writing for us, then you feel that you’re getting something valuable from SCA.
Running this blog is not our day job. This makes it hard to critique every submission, provide you with constructive criticism, coach you on writing, etc. If you want to run an idea past us before you spend time on writing it, PLEASE do.
We don’t want anyone to waste their time or ours.
We’d also like you to adhere to the following general guidelines when writing.
1. The article must be original. You must write ALL of the content yourself as opposed to saying “Dennis wrote an interesting article, click here to read it”.
You can however reference pertinent sites in your post as long as you link to them.
2. Don’t take it personally if we edit your writing for grammar, punctuation or even sentence structure. We won’t change the substantive meaning of your article or your point of view.
Your article must be well-written using proper English spelling and grammar.
However, We reserve the right to rewrite entire paragraphs that are confusing or wordy. We also reserve the right not to publish any article if we feel it’s not in the best interest of this blog.
3. The article you submit must be exclusive to SCA. It cannot be published on other blogs or sites, including your own. We want to keep the content here original.
4. By submitting an article to SCA , you are granting us the right to keep it on our site and you are agreeing not to submit the article to anyone else’s site.
The content is ultimately yours and your name will stay with it wherever it goes.
5. Please do not use any affiliate links, attempt to trick our readers to click on dodgy links, or refer to any spam sites.
6. If you are quoting any external reference, make an effort to link to the source. For example, if you claim that smoking tea leaves is medicinal, please have the decency to link to an authoritative or reputable medical journal that has the audacity to back your claim.
7. We recommend that your article is between 500 and 1200 words, and accept that the topic you’re writing about may dictate a more realistic word count in that range.
