Good to see my superstitious strategy of allegiance disavowal endorsed, atleast in part, by a veteran in these matters!

The McMahon-Barnes gag, and the sly reference to the S-I-L had me in splits.

Here's to three points at.......never mind.

I only change my match day pessimism when the odds are really so stacked against us that you are disappointed before they even kick off.

For some reason, & the once only, I absolutely knew that we would win the title at Anfield. I had been fretting most of the day, thinking how the hell had we cocked it up against Derby & W'don at home, when even before I had a drink or 3 I just thought to myself "there's still a twist to this !!".

I watched that game like I was someone else & even when McMahon was wagging his finger I was just sure that he would be wishing he had stuck it up John Barnes' darkest place.

Do you know what Saloner?
I had my scarf with a little red & white fluffy man on it, a bobble hat & all the trimmings of those days, every match for 13 odd years & we won sweet fa. I stopped all that when Blackpool knocked us out of the cup 3-2 after we had been winning 2-0 at ht. We were way down the league but by the end of the season we had won the European Fairs Cup (Uefa Cup), the 1st trophy for 17 years. Actually, I did think we would win that game too!!

The only time I have worn the colours at a match was that Farewell to Highbury tee shirt they gave away for the Wigan game, & also the CL Final tee shirt- so I won't be suckered into that again. I do wear a reddish shirt to every game.

Son in law 1 is taking me to Stoke tomorrow. We won't win !!!

LOL Flint indeed. I wonder how you'll cope, Flint, should the title race tighten up and Arsenal go into into the last couple of games on par with Chelsea and ManU.

For my part, I'm so superstitious I privately disavow any allegiance to the club and keep off football for the duration.

LOL Flint.

Of all the defensive pessimists I know of, believe me, you have a job even qualifying for the degree of pessimism I'm talking about.

Oh dear Darius, I think I may be 25% doomer.

I have to partially confess to being a bit no.1 before a match.

It is historic going back to our cup runs of the 1970s & before. We were mostly drawn away, even then. On the car journeys one of my best mates was always the optimist & because whenever I fancied it we lost, I became the pessimist. Even when I secretly fancied it we still lost.

I keep to that tradition because whenever I think we are going to thrash some team we drop silly points.

The doomers 2,3 & 4 basically have no feeling for the game of football or what it means to support. It is all black or white with them.
