Carma is a bastard

Ask Glenn Hoddle. When he last suggested that folks end up with a disability because of something they did in a previous life, it wasn’t long before the FA sent his P45 through the mail. Very few would have probably chosen this level of stupidity to lose a job, but Hoddle only had himself to blame.

Darren Fletcher and Alex Ferguson have been getting a dose of their own medicine. In the case of Fergie, his bitching about refereeing performances is adding to the ref bashing phenomenon that has become a cottage industry in the Premiership. Fergie has been good at deflecting blame off his team’s poor performances by projecting drama onto himself by pretty much causing a controversy. Last time round, Alan Wiley didn’t seem to run fast enough for him. This time, Atkinson was to blame for them losing to Chelsea.

Fletcher on the other hand, has done some serious soul searching and concluded that Arsene Wenger is ultimately responsible for his current misfortune on the pitch. You could almost picture him lying in a dark room with a cold towel on his face screaming “Damn you Wenger”. His claims that Wenger is responsible for their loss to Chelsea conjures an image of Wenger’s silhouette with a hangman’s noose on the shoulder of Martin Atkinson as the puppet of a referee bombs up and down the pitch hounding Darren Fletcher for his ’anti-football’ tactics.

The truth is, Manchester United and Fergie have had it their way for far too long. Most teams including Arsenal know what it feels like being at the wrong end of referees who have been kissing Fergie’s bottom for a very long time. You can only do something stupid for so long before it turns around and bitch slaps you. Since Fergie rarely speaks to the media when United lose a game, the United manager should have wheeled out Mike Feelan to face the media and take responsibility for their lacklustre performance on the pitch. His tirade at Alan Wiley is coming home to roost as it’s clear that his actions in openly humiliating Wiley was totally frowned upon by the refereeing establishment and they’re biting back.

As for Fletcher, he should focus more on playing football than being an annoying guard dog on the pitch running around fouling opponents. He’ll probably find that referees would stop focussing on him.

What goes around comes around, ehn Darius? Fergie and his pupets have not even started to get their own Karma as yet.
