“We was robbed”
ByIf I was an Everton fan, that’s what I’d be screaming until the cows come back home. Evidently, that’s what happened last night, because Arsenal literally smuggled a point out of Goodison park.
I’m not complaining outright because I’ve always believed that the Arsenal have to learn how to play ugly when needed on dark cold winter nights in the North West (which we’ve traditionally not liked at all), and yesterday was one such night. It was almost like we didn’t have a midfield quartet with Alex Song and Abou Diaby invisible in the middle.
Since Fabregas got injured, the Arsenal have lacked creativity in the middle of the park except when Nasri played that role, and its showing, not least during last nights hard fought battle with Everton. It seemed for the most part that the Arsenal were destined for a long, cold and sad trip back into Luton airport from a defeat at Goodison park, until a route 1 passage of play from Almunia in goal, to denilson to Abou Diaby saw a long diagonal ball chested down by Robin Bang Persie in the Everton box within 4 seconds of Almunia’s throw. Tim Howard did not even have time to raise his hands when the first time left foot volley flew off Van Persie rattling the back of the net with less than 20 seconds to go to the end of the match.
Clearly, Everton deserved to win that match, but I admire the spirit of the Arsenal for fighting to the bitter end (and Bang Persie’s goal has to be a contender for the Route 1 goal of the season)…and like I said, if I was an Everton fan, I’d be screaming “we was robbed”, coz’ Arsenal were thieves last night.
